Sean Joseph is a New York and Massachusetts-based Director and AEA Stage Manager, specializing in new work and classic musical theatre. As a Theatre Director, Sean most recently directed DISNEY’S THE LITTLE MERMAID at The Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Centre in Rhode Island. Sean has worked as the Assistant Director to Broadway’s Gabriel Barre on Tuacahn Amphitheater’s production of Frank Wildhorn’s WONDERLAND in Utah, the Off-Broadway musical, TURTLE ON A FENCE POST, and the streaming, rock musical, LIGHTS ON THE RADIO TOWER with Five Ohm Productions. Off-Broadway: WE ARE THE TIGERS at Theatre 80 St. Marks (Assistant Director), EINSTEIN’S DREAMS at 59E59 Theatres/Prospect Theatre Company (Assistant Director). Others: The 24 Hour Plays Broadway Gala (Assistant Director), and RELIC, or I was Bubbie’s Favorite at Queens Theatre (Assistant Director). Sean has directed for The Uncommon Theatre Company in Massachusetts (ALICE IN WONDERLAND) and Unlimited Stages in NYC (2020 UNLIMITED VALENTINE’S DAY SHOW). Stage Management: Maine State Music Theatre, Forestburgh Playhouse, Williamstown Theatre Festival (“MAN OF GOD”).
As a Producer, Sean has worked with Prospect Theater Company on the new, Off-Broadway song cycle, NOTES FROM NOW and THE OSCAR MICHAEUX SUITE in Concert, which both premiered at 59E59 Theaters, NYC in March 2022. Broadway: 101 Productions (The Little Prince, Macbeth, Plaza Suite); Dodger Properties (SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical, Jersey Boys). Other producing projects and involvement included The What Theatre Co. on their site-specific production of BARE: A POP OPERA at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New York, and RWS Entertainment Group.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Directing and Stage Management from Marymount Manhattan College, NYC. He is currently pursuing a Master of Sciences degree from Merrimack College in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Proud member of Actor’s Equity Association and Associate Member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
